POSTCARD | Stewart Island New Zealand

This weeks postcard comes from earlier in the year when I was back in the South Island of New Zealand for the summer.
My wife Jane and I made the road trip down to Stewart Island, the most southerly part of New Zealand. Stewart Island is a mecca with adventurers and hunters. We ended up combining sea kayaking with trekking (or tramping as the New Zealander’s say!) for near on 10-days.
This photo was taken towards the end of the trip after a long day of paddling along Patterson Inlet in absolutely perfect conditions (read: no wind). For those interested in night photography and technique, the details are:
Tripod. 302 seconds @ f 4.0, ISO 400. Focal length 17-mm.
I asked Jane to turn her torch off inside the tent after about 60 seconds. If I hadn’t, it would have rendered the tent over-exposed after such a long exposure.
