In Transit: Five Hour Layover in Turpan

Arrived early afternoon in Turpan, dubbed by Lonely Planet “as the Death Valley of China”.

Grabbed a hotel room to escape the 41 degree heat and to watch some Olympics coverage. A pleasant way to pass a five hour wait between trains.
