The big draw card with Fethiye is the Gulet cruising along the supposedly stunning Turquoise Coast.

The big draw card for us was sea kayaking along a section of the Turquoise Coast.

After spending a day sourcing two single sea kayaks and a half day organizing our food, we are ready to set off tomorrow on a five day paddle down past the area known as the Seven Capes.

Back on deck in six days time.

Kayakoy Village

Kayakoy village was abandoned by the Greeks back in the early to mid 20 th century as part of the population exchange between Turkey and Greece.

Today the abandoned village of 350 homes is a quiet tourist attraction, just 8 kilometers out of Fethiye.

Well worth a visit if you are in Fethiye for a couple of days.

A couple of photos from a walk around Fethiye this evening.

The structure in the rock face is actually a Lycian tomb. These tombs are found throughout this region, which is known as the Lycian Way.

Ephesus Turkey

Spent a very pleasant four hours wandering around the amazing ruins of the old city of Ephesus yesterday.

The city was once the Capitol of Asia Minor and dates back to BC times.

Not surprisingly, the old city is a very popular stop on the tourist circuit and becomes very busy later in the day.

Ever since owning a scooter during my year in the Cook Islands, I’ve been a big fan of scooters.

Greece and Turkey have scooters a-plenty and if I was to live in Europe, I’d buy a Vespa in a heart beat. Love ‘em
