PROJECTS: WILD NO MORE

Wild No More is a depressing insight into the world of zoo animals, locked up in artificially created environments, which are somehow suppose to replicate the animal's natural habitat.

Wild No More is an ongoing personal project.

Jungle Cat (Felis chaus) inside enclosure, Chiang Mai Zoo, Chiang Mai, Thailand, on the 28 September 2009. International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources Red List of Threatened Species status is 'Least Concern'. In Thailand and Laos the Jungle Cat has experienced reduced populations since 1977 due to unselective trapping and snaring.

Grey-headed Fish Eagle (Ichthyophaga ichthyaetus) rear view, Chiang Mai Zoo, Thailand, on the 28 September 2009. The Grey-headed Fish Eagle is found in India, Sri Lanka and South East Asia. International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources Red List of Threatened Species status is 'Near Threatened', due to reductions in habitat, population and over-fishing. Also known as the Grey-headed Fishing Eagle.

Fish swimming around coral inside a display at Chiang Mai Zoo, Thailand on the 30 September 2009. Global warming and a rise in sea temperatures causes coral to die off through a process whereby the coral expels its symbiotic food producing algae. This process is known as bleaching.

Humboldt Penguins (Spheniscus humboldti), inside a temperature regulated enclosure, Chiang Mai Zoo, Thailand, on the 28 September 2009. International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources Red List of Threatened Species status is 'Vulnerable', due to reductions in the number of breeding colonies. Named after the Humboldt Current. Also known as Peruvian Penguin or Patrance.

Giant Panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) playing with a straw basket in front of a large group of people at Chiang Mai Zoo, Thailand, on the 28 September 2009. Also known as the Oriental Small Clawed Otter and Small Clawed Otter.

Three False Gavial Crocodiles (Tomistoma schlegelii) laying in the sun inside an enclosure, Dusit Zoo, Bangkok, Thailand, on the 25 August 2009. The crocodiles lay very still druing the day, often with their mouths open. International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources Red List of Threatened Species status is 'Endangered', due to habitat loss.
