From the Archive: Con Dao Island Prison, Vietnam
I first read about Con Dao Island Prison, in a travel piece by the NY Times.
At the time I was living in Bangkok, so when the opportunity arose to head to Vietnam, I made sure I hopped a turboprop plane for the short flight to Con Dao Island for a couple of days.
While my visit to Con Dao Island was full of wonderfully long days exploring the beautiful islands, the time I spent in the now defunct prisons, was humbling to say the least. Places like this, give you time to ponder and wonder how as humans, we can be so horrible to each other, time and time again.
The world would be a lot better place if we were simply a lot nicer to each other.
